Groundwater/Surface Water Interactions

In much of Indiana, the groundwater is near-surface with a limited unsaturated zone above it. Many surface-water bodies in the state are connected to the shallow groundwater, and that interaction is dynamic – sometimes driven by precipitation events, and other times driven by seasonal fluctuations. The Groundwater Focus Committee has invested collaborative resources on the topic of groundwater/surface-water interactions into field studies, data analysis, and numerical and statistical modeling tools and techniques.
